For the wages of love , the wages of light
the wages of peace and truth
the wages of mercy , of compassion that calls
the will of the one absolute

For the wages of justice , of virtue and trust
the wages of giving to gain
the wages of wisdom , of wealth and of worth
in the light where the true hope remains

The wages of friendship , of kindness to give
the wages of balance to bear
the wages of reason , of meaning to mend
in the image of God to be shared

The wages of prophesy fulfilled and defined
the wages of glory and grace
the wages of thought in word and in deed
the true time together to trace

The wages of knowledge , the wages of will
the wages of faith and belief
the wages of wonder of vision and way
the song when the circle completes

The wages of friendship , of kindness to give
